Memo To: Northfork Residents From: Steven Jankowski CC: Mayor and Council, Brian Olson, Tim Himmer Date: August 27, 2009 Re: Bid Award for Andrie Street / 164th Lane Improvements and Alternate Bid for Sidewalk. At the City Council meeting of Tuesday, September 8, 2009 bids will be considered for a project which will include the reconstruction of Andrie Street and 164th Lane from Alpine Drive to Jarvis Street. The new street will be reconstructed three feet wider than present along with drainage improvements and concrete curb and gutter. In addition the City has requested an alternate bid for installing a five foot wide concrete sidewalk on the north and east sides ofthese streets. It is anticipated that the City Council will make a decision on the award of the project that evening, including the sidewalk. Although the City's comprehensive plan calls for the inclusion of sidewalks on collector streets such as these, considerable opposition for including the sidewalk has been expressed by properties fronting along the project. A petition opposing the sidewalk was presented to the Council at the August 11 th Council meeting. At that time the Council requested that the entire Northfork neighborhood be informed that action would be taken on this matter at the September 8th meeting after the bids were received. They also advised that an opportunity for discussion of this matter would be available prior to the CouncW s decision. You are invited to attend and participate on this matter.
