Deputy City Administrator Nelson stated that Building Official Kaehler reviewed the quotes that <br />were submitted. She indicated the Arrowline product has afour-tab installation and the other has <br />a three-tab installation. She added that staff does not have a strong preference between <br />Kasselwood and Arrowline and it is believed that both products are hail resistant. <br />Motion by Councilmember Look, seconded by Councilmember Wise, to authorize staff to enter <br />into a contract with Contractors & Consultants, Inc. as the lowest responsible bidder for the roof <br />replacement using the Arrowline product. <br />City Attorney Goodrich requested that the motion be subject to the unanimous approval of the <br />subsequent resolution presented with this case. . <br />Councilmember Look accepted the friendly amendment to the motion <br />Councilmember Wise accepted the friendly amendment to the motion. <br />A roll call vote was taken: <br />Councilmember Look -aye <br />Councilmember Wise -aye <br />Councilmember Dehen -aye <br />Councilmember Elvig -aye <br />Councilmember Jeffrey -absent <br />Councilmember McGlone -abstain <br />Mayor Ramsey -aye <br />Motion carried. <br />City Attorney Goodrich stated the City Council also needs to authorize City staff, on behalf of <br />the City, to enter into a contract with an interested Councilmember by adopting a resolution, <br />which is a resolution to contract with a Councilmember under Minn. Statute Section 471.88 <br />subdivision 5 and 471.89 subdivision 2. <br />Motion by Councilmember Look, seconded by Councilmember Wise, to adopt Resolution #09- <br />08-194 to contract with a Councilmember which resolution is contingent on the City Attorney <br />confirming that the term "unanimous" as used in the relevant statute may be interpreted as the <br />unanimous vote of those City Councilmembers present when the matter is voted on. <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Elvig stated it appears that Contractors & Consultants is the <br />only contractor that can provide the color selected by the.City. He stated if the City wishes to <br />standazdize all materials used in the pazks, the Council is essentially standardizing to this <br />particular contractor. Councilmember Dehen stated that even though this is a relatively small <br />job, he felt it was appropriate for staff to obtain more than three quotes.
