Absent: None. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Consider Archery Range for Traprock Commons Park <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood began the discussion with Traprock Park having an area within it as <br />not being utilized and it has been suggested to him from area residents that this be considered <br />improved by the addition of an archery range. He would like to proceed with backfinding and <br />have the residents fill out the Lawful Gambling Improvement form and make a formal approval <br />as soon as the August meeting. <br /> <br />The Commission continued discussion relating to any convenances at the park, modification of <br />the City ordinance relative to distance from homes, the positive support already received from <br />area residents, permanent targets, types of bales and the orientation to warrant safety. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Shryock, seconded by Commissioner Backous for staff to work to <br />organize information necessary to consider an archery facility at Traprock Commons Park. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Absent: None. <br /> <br />COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />The Ramsey Lions be recognized for their years of service and for their donation of the park <br />building pavilion at Central Park. <br /> <br />Motion by Chair Johns, seconded by Commissioner Backous that the Park and Recreation <br />Commission is in support of a plaque or monument recognizing the Lions. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Johns, Commissioner Backous, Barr, Erickson, <br />LaMere, Olsen, Shryock. Voting No: None. Absent: None. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor reviewed the King's Island Trail funding and City cost. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor informed the Commission about the $43,000 Grant monies from the Soil and <br />Water Resource will be used to do an ecological restoration atthe Mississippi West Park. <br /> <br />Riverdale Park Irrigation update. <br /> <br />The consensus of the Park and Recreation Commission is to begin receiving the agenda through <br />email to save on postage and paper.
