Public Notice ~ Attention: City Water Customers Odd/Even Day Sprinking Ban To reduce peak water usage in areas served by the municipal water system, the city of RaIllsey has imple- mented an odd/even day sprinkling ban, pursuant to City Code 4.40.06 subd. 10. The sprinkling baIl will be in effect from May 26 until Septem- ber 8. Residents may water their lawns on odd numbered days if their address ends in all odd number aIld on even numbered days if their address ends in an even number. The sprinkling restriction in- cludes no watering between 10:00 aIll and 8:00 pm since a significaIlt amount of water is lost due to evapo- ration during the hot pOliions of the dav. Homeowners with automated systems are strongly encouraged to program their irrigation systems to operate after 10:00 pm. This mini- mizes evaporation and lessens peak demaIld on the Municipal water system. The only exception to the City Code is for new sod or seeded areas. They may be watered every day for two weeks to establish root growth, but not between 10:00 aIll aIld 8:00 pm. In addition to the residential sprinkling ban, the city is in the process of implementing all irrigation policy that is specific to townhhome, multifaIllily residential and com- mercial connections to the municipal water supply requiring that: Well Water Wise Week May 4 through May 8, 2009 The Anoka County Community Health and Environmental Services Depmiment will be accepting well water saIllples Monday through Thursday, 8: 00 aIll to 4: 15 pm, aIld until 12:00 noon on Friday during Well Water Wise Week. You CaIl pick up your test kit at the RaIllsey Municipal Center lo- cated at 7550 Sunwood Drive NW in RaIllsey between the hours of 8:00 aIll and 4:30 pm. Submit Water Sample to: Com- munity Health & Environmental Services, 360 Anoka County Govern- ment Center, 2100 Third Avenue Anoka, MN 55303. The laboratory fee is $30.00. At any other time during the year, you may still pick up your test kit at the RaIllsey Municipal Center aIld submit your water saIllple to Com- munity Health & Environmental Services on Mondays from 8:00 aIll - 4: 15 pm and Tuesdays from 8:00 am - 12:00 noon. All irrigation systems must in- clude a Rain Sensor device to prevent irrigation systems from operating dur- ing rain events. Septic Tank Pumping Frequency City staff receives maIlY calls re- garding how often to do maintenance on septic tanks. More specifically, the frequency of having a contractor pump their taIlk(s). According to City Code 8.30, Sewage Treatment Systems, the owner or agent of all individual sew- age taIlk(s) shall have them pumped regularly, or in no case less frequently thaIl every three years. A reminder notice will be sent to homeowners when it is time to have their septic taIlk cleaIled and inspected. Maintaining your septic system aIld having the taIlk cleaned on a regular basis will prolong the life of the drainfield.
