CASE #~_ ADOPT ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 6, SECTION 6.04 ENTITLED RECREATIONAL VEHICLES By Jim Way, Police Chief Background: At the July 28, 2009 work session, Council discussed the recreational vehicles ordinance to consider possible revisions allowing the use of snowmobiles and ATV's in more areas in the City. In summary, the current ordinance restricts operation of recreational vehicles south of the 16'700 block of the City, except for access to parks for loading/unloading and parking purposes. Council requested that this topic come back to work session, allowing for additional time for staff to provide a recommendation regarding the potential code revisions. Discussion on the topic was scheduled for the August 11, 2009 work session but due to time constraints staff was. unable to make a formal presentation on changes that came out of the July 28~' meeting. The changes were forwarded to Council members for their review. The proposed ordinance amendments were introduced at the regular City Council meeting on September 8, 2009. At that meeting, Council requested that a limitation be placed on "mini-bikes" over 1 IOcc. 'This change was added under 6.04.04 Operation Limitations, Subd 6.
