Park Design Services Based on the information identified in the RFP and our past experience in working with the City of Ramsey on the 2001 Comprehensive Plan and subsequent Town Center Ordinance, the HKGi/MSA team has a general understanding of the significance of the Town Center and development of the East Meandering Commons Park. The park is positioned in the center of the future mixed-use town center and provides an important open space central to this future compact development. The park will function as both a symbol of Civic space and a destination for casual and community oriented gathering. The park also functions as an important ecological system in the management of stormwater runoff. There is a great deal more to learn as we begin the project. Here is a general overview of our project understanding to date: · The City of Ramsey has taken significant steps toward the development of the mixed-. use town center and the East Meandering Commons Park is a critical civic space to the success of the town center's future. . This project is a continuation of the concept planning and schematic design prepared for the Meandering Commons Park. . The project will focus on the design of active and passive open space, providing gathering space for programmed events, natural landscape environments, and stormwater management areas. · This project will build upon the strengths ofthe Town Center Master Plan and the park concept plan. Those plans will be considered a general framework for the starting point of more detailed design. Additional concepts will also be developed during the Master Plan phase of the project. Coordination with planned adjacent mixed use and residential projects will need to occur throughout the design process to ensure that early improvements remain viable through future phases. · Phase One of the East Meandering Commons Park, which includes an amphitheater, pedestrian bridge, trails and other amenities is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2010. · The East Meandering Commons Park is anticipated to take several years to be completely funded and built. The funding will be a combination of park dedication and grants and our approach to the Master Plan should accommodate the reality of variable funding scenarios.
