<br /> <br />RELATED EXPERIENCE <br /> <br />RIVER'S EDGE COMMONS DOWNTOWN AREA <br /> <br />ELK RIVER, MINNESOTA <br />The River's Edge Commons Park is located in the City of Elk River, Minnesota, adjacent <br />to the Mississippi River. The project is an outgrowth from the Elk River Downtown <br />Revitalization effort also conducted by HKGi. The City recognized the need to better <br />assure the long-term viability of downtown by making a stronger connection to the rest <br />of the community and utilizing the riverfront location. The River's Edge Commons Park <br />is critical to that plan. <br /> <br />HKGi was commissioned by the City to develop park concepts and complete construction <br />of the park by the summer of 2007. The project consists of three levels that terrace <br />down toward the banks of the Mississippi. It includes an upper square with shade trees, <br />water feature, curved overlook promenade with pergola, grand staircase and a terraced <br />amphitheater with performance area and gazebo overlook. <br /> <br />i was great to work with. They listened to the community, <br />and developed a plan that respects and compliments our historic <br />downtown while highlighting our connection to the Mississippi River. <br />The reception from the public has been tremendous.
