CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
Topic Report: Branding/Marketing Firm
Interviews
By: Heidi A. Nelson, Deputy City Administrator/Dir.
of Community Development

Background:

The Ramsey Town Center Steering Committee recommended to City Council at its
August 25th work session that the Council consider moving forward with a
branding/marketing effort for the RTC project. The HRA subsequently authorized
funding for marketing for RTC in the amount of $25,000, which also included funding
for the Altoona, IA site visit. Since that time the RTC Steering Committee has solicited
proposals from and interviewed four (4) branding/marketing firms. Following the initial
screening and interview process, the Committee asked two (2) firms to revise their
proposal for the initial phase of branding work that the Committee feels is needed at this
time.

The two (2) proposals are attached for Council review. Interviews have been scheduled
with each of these firms for this evening:

5:30 p.m. - Vyway Market and Brand Strategy, Anne Berg

6:15 p.m. - LEVEL, Lois Dirksen & Kim Thelen

The R TC Steering Committee Members have been invited to attend the interviews this
evening as well. It is anticipated that the HRA could take action on one of the proposals
at its October 6th meeting.

Action Statement:
Based upon Council discussion.

Reviewed by: K/ ~
City Administrator: ,-"D

CCWS:

09/29/2009
