INTRODUCTION

At the 'Public Warks Cammittee held an April 21, 2009, staff was directed to. prepare this
feasibility study to. indentify safety impravements which might be made in arder to.
cansiderreapening 142nd Avenue between TH 47 and Argan Street. Additional direction
was provided by the Public Warks Committee on August 19,2009 regarding the details
af the desired impravements. This raadway was temporarily clased in March of 2009
because of cut through traffic from adjacent arterial streets fil~ering through this
residential neighborhood, particularly 143avenue and Argan streets. Thepraject area is
illustrated in Figure 1. This report will identify the existing street QQnditians along with
the proposed improvements and the associated costs. ,A:~$.}~;;!;.::::"

EXISTING CONDITIONS .,,~,

At the present time Dysprosium Street between has,a.:~~l~!fi;'of 45 f~~t~~l;1tered in an 80
foot right of way. The proposed safety
improvements 'woul 3~ 'nsist of six foot wide sidewalks on both sides of Dysprosium
Street from Bunker Lake Blvd to 143Td Avenue.

Two options are to be considered for the alteration of the Dysprosium road way. Option
A would consist of two 11 foot travel lanes and two 8 foot parking lanes, Option B would
consist of two 11 faot travel lanes and an 8 foot parking lane on the west side of the
street. On the east side parking wauld be restricted and a two foot curb reaction distance
would be placed between the edge of the travel lane and the face of the curb. Chokers
would be placed at all intersection locations where a parking lane exists. Figure 2

2
