ADOPT ORDINANCES TO AMEND CITY CODE CHAPTER 9 (ZONING AND
SUBDIVISION OF LAND), SECTIONS 9.14 (SOLID WASTE)AND 9.50 (SUBDIVISION)
By: Community Development Director Sylvia Frolik

Background:

On April 8, 2003, the City Council introduced an ordinance to amend Section' 9.50 (Subdivision)
of the City Code. Section 9.50 establishes the requirements and standards for subdivision of
land. The final adoption of the proposed amendments to Section 9.50 were delayed to coincide
with adoption of the Tree Preservation Ordinance. The reason for {he delay is that it was fairly
certain that the preliminary and final plat submittal requirements in Section 9.50 would need to
be modified based on the outcome of the Tree Preservation ordinance and the requirements it
places on new development. On August 12, 2003, the tree preservation ordinance was adopted.
The necessary changes to Section 9.50, based on the tree preservation ordinance, have been
incorporated into the proposed ordinance. Section 9.50 is now ready for adoption.

On July 22, 2003, the City Council introduced an ordinance to amend Section 9.14 (Solid Waste)
of City Code. That ordinance was listed on the August 12 Council agenda for adoption,
however, it was erroneously omitted from the case enclosures. The ordinance is enclosed in this
case and is eligible for adoption.

Observations:

In accordance with the City Charter, the ordinances are now eligible for adoption.
Recommendations:

City Staff recommends adoption of the enclosed ordinances at this time.

Council Action:

Motion by and seconded by to adopt Ordinance
Section 9. ]4 (Solid Waste) of Chapter 9 of the Ramsey City Code.

#03-

to amend

Roll Call Vote:

Councilmember Elvig
Councilmember Strommen
Councilmember Kurak
Councilmember Zimmerman
Councilmember Cook
Councilmember Pearson
Mayor Gamec

-285-
