Com~cilmember Kurak stated that she Would agree with six units per acre. <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon noted that the reduction in density would <br />have rami£~cations to the comprehensive plan and secondly if they say that if they provide ~een <br />space for credit then they will cram more units on a smaller area. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak recommended that they proceed with reducing the R-2 .density to six units <br />per acre and not proceed with giving a developer credit for green space. <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Tmdgeon noted that staff could research wha other <br />communities are doing. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pearson stated that he would like to change the architectural standards so that <br />not all of the developments are "cookie cutter" homes. He would also like to see higher priced <br />units being constructed in the City. <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Tmdgeon replied that the City currently has very <br />basic standards, which can be increased. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated that she would like to see the changes made as soon as possible. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that they should address the issue of electric fences because it has <br />caused quire a bit of controversy. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen requested that they look at the open space requirements and require <br />that more of the space has to be usable space. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that the problem with requiring more ~een space is that it typically <br />increases the density on a smaller piece of property. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stated that the Park and Recreation Commission have talked about <br />requiring any high density developments to create some sort of recreation activity within their <br />development with the activity depending on who they are marketing to. As density increases <br />there will be higher demands on the trails and parks and they will not be able to accommodate it <br />all. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that he thought that was a marketing issue for the developer.
