Mayor Gamec stated that he would prefer to present a plan to the citizens .that the Council has agreed on. Councilmember Strommen felt that the citizens should be presented both options. Councilmember Elvig stated that he could see value with connecting all of the Been areas, but he did not see the value of having Been space that cannot necessarily be accessed. Councilmember Strommen eXplained that those areas provide ecolOgical value. She stated that they needed to think beyond the recreational value. Councilmember Cook stated that those areas protect the wildlife habitat and the ecosystem. He stated that he would like to discuss the document at a work session, but requested that the Council receive the document as soon as possible so that they can have the knowledge up front. Councihnember EMg questioned the cost to acquire the Been space. Parks/Utilities Supervisor Pdverbl0od explained that they were not talking about land acquisition. He explained that there are a number of ways to achieve the greenway without taking money out of their pocket. If the Council is serious about implementing a geenway plan they can take the geenway plan and amend it .and have an overlay district that has special requirements. Councilmember Elvig stated that they would be talking about a lot of people's property and restricting what can be done. He felt that the Council should be informed more on the issue before people get upset for something that they may not need to. Councilmember Stromrnen statec~-that there are a lot of roadmaps on how they can sell the greenway plan to the residents. She. emphasized that they need to get the information to the residents.
