<br />Mayor Ramsey introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #09-11-292 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION TO CONSIDER 2010 STATE BONDING REQUEST FOR RAMSEY <br />RAIL STATION AND REQUEST SUPPORT OF STATE REPRESENTATIVE ABELER <br />ANDSENATORJUNGBAUER <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Northstar Commuter Rail Project (the "Project") is a 40-mile <br />commuter rail serving communities along the Northstar Corridor from Big Lake to Minneapolis; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the Full Funding Grant Agreement, stations were constructed <br />and are operating in Big Lake, Elk River, Anoka, Coon Rapids and Minneapolis; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a station serving the City of Fridley ~as constructed using local funding <br />and is operating; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Northstar Advanced Corridor Plan and environmental documentation <br />also included the Ramsey Rail Station; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Rail Station was removed from the initial phase of the project <br />in order to secure grant funding via the Federal Transit Administration; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Rail Station will stimulate economic growth and development <br />in Anoka County and the Ramsey Town Center; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the following funding is anticipated for the Ramsey Rail Station: <br /> <br />~ Federal Appropriation $5,000,000 <br />~ CTIB $3,300,000 <br />~ Local $1,400,000 <br /> <br />; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, if such Federal and CTIB funding is secured, an additional local <br />contribution of $4,300,000 will be required to complete the estimated $14,000,000 project. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby supports a 2010 State bonding request for the <br />Ramsey Rail Station in the amount of $4,300,000. <br /> <br />2) That the Ramsey City Council hereby requests the support of Representative Jim Abeler <br />and State Senator Mike Jungbauer is securing this critical funding. <br />
