Mayor Ramsey introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #09-11-292 A RESOLUTION TO CONSIDER 2010 STATE BONDING REQUEST FOR RAMSEY RAIL STATION AND REQUEST SUPPORT OF STATE REPRESENTATIVE ABELER ANDSENATORJUNGBAUER WHEREAS, the Northstar Commuter Rail Project (the "Project") is a 40-mile commuter rail serving communities along the Northstar Corridor from Big Lake to Minneapolis; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the Full Funding Grant Agreement, stations were constructed and are operating in Big Lake, Elk River, Anoka, Coon Rapids and Minneapolis; and WHEREAS, a station serving the City of Fridley ~as constructed using local funding and is operating; and WHEREAS, the Northstar Advanced Corridor Plan and environmental documentation also included the Ramsey Rail Station; and WHEREAS, the Ramsey Rail Station was removed from the initial phase of the project in order to secure grant funding via the Federal Transit Administration; and WHEREAS, the Ramsey Rail Station will stimulate economic growth and development in Anoka County and the Ramsey Town Center; and WHEREAS, the following funding is anticipated for the Ramsey Rail Station: ~ Federal Appropriation $5,000,000 ~ CTIB $3,300,000 ~ Local $1,400,000 ; and WHEREAS, if such Federal and CTIB funding is secured, an additional local contribution of $4,300,000 will be required to complete the estimated $14,000,000 project. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby supports a 2010 State bonding request for the Ramsey Rail Station in the amount of $4,300,000. 2) That the Ramsey City Council hereby requests the support of Representative Jim Abeler and State Senator Mike Jungbauer is securing this critical funding.
