<br />CONSENT#~ II <br /> <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION TO ENTER INTO A RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING <br />PROGRAM AGREEMENT TO RECEIVE SCORE FUNDS FOR 2010 <br />By: Chris Anderson, Environmental Coordinator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Each year, Anoka County receivesft.mding from the Solid Waste Management Coordinating <br />Board and the State of Minnesota pursuant to Minn, Stat. ~ 115A.557, The County than <br />distributes these funds, known as SCORE funds (Select Committee on Recycling and the <br />Environment) to cities and townships within the county, The allocation includes a base of <br />$10,000 plus $5,08 per household, Ran1sey's allocation for 2010 will be $49,872,92; <br />however, it should be noted that if Anoka County does not receive the spring payment <br />($411,511) than the allocation would be cut in half. <br /> <br />The ft.mding is intended to help municipalities achieve their recycling goals as established by <br />the Anoka County Board ofCornmissioners (Ramsey's recycling goal for 2010 is 2,051 tons), <br />The City of Ramsey has traditionally used these funds to promote waste reduction and <br />recycling efforts and awareness in. the community, to offset costs of the spring and fall <br />recycling day events and to fund the recycling coordinator position. <br /> <br />To receive this SCORE funding, each municipality must enter into an agreement with <br />Anoka County that outlines required components of a municipality's recycling program <br />requirements, These requirements include providing households an opportunity to <br />recycle at least four (4) broad types of materials, a public information program and <br />notifying new residents of the recycling program, <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Adopt Resolution # 1 0-0 1- authorizing the Mayor to sign the Agreement of <br />Residential Recycling Program between the City of Ramsey and Anoka County to <br />receive SCORE funds, <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />;t:c'L:O <br /> <br />Plmming Manager <br />City Administrator: <br /> <br />Attachments: <br /> <br />A.
