<br />PC CASE # s./eJ <br /> <br />DISCUSSION REGARDING 2010 BOARD AND COMMISSION <br />RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION PROCESS <br /> <br />Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />On March 31, 2010, the terms of the following commissioners will expire: <br />. Jim Steffen, EDA <br />. Gary Van Scoy, Planning Commission <br />. Terri Cleveland, Planning Commission <br /> <br />In accordance with the city's Policy for Appointing Board and Commission Members, <br />staff has advertised the EDA and Planning Commission seats in the January/February <br />issue of the Ramsey Resident. The application deadline is a rolling deadline and the first <br />review of applications will be February 5, 2010. In the event that the city receives more <br />than five applications, the City Council will evaluate the applications and select up to five <br />individuals to be interviewed by the full City Council for each vacant seat. The Gity <br />Council may consult with board and commission chairs and vice chairs regarding the <br />selection of applications for appointment as it deems appropriate; however, the final <br />decision regarding appointments rests with the City Council. <br /> <br />Staff proposes the following tentative schedule for the 20 1 0 recruitment and selection <br />process: <br /> <br />January 5--February 5, 2010 <br />February 16 (Work Session) <br />February 24 or 25 <br />March 9 or 23 <br /> <br />Advertising <br />City Council selection of candidates for interviews <br />Interviews <br />Appointment of new commissioners <br /> <br />Funding Source <br /> <br />Advertising costs and stipends for commissioners are included in the city's 2010 General <br />Fund Budget. <br /> <br />Attachment: Policy for APPointing:o. oardommission Members <br /> <br />Reviewed By: 1:6': "----d <br />City Administrator I ~ <br />t <br /> <br />PC: 1-11-10 <br />
