He
stated he would like to see something nicer and different this year.

Councilmember Dehen stated he wanted to be fiscally responsible.

Councilmember Jeffrey stated public perception was important and it was ridiculous that the City
was going to throw a party like this when times were tough.

Councilmember Look stated the City was looking at $3,500 more this year.

Mayor Ramsey stated the City was going to have a holiday party and it was not unusual to spend
this kind of money for a party.

Councilmember Look stated whatever was spent on the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner last year
was wasted as nobody showed up, but he believed this type of a dinner would have a good
turnout by both staff and the volunteers.

Councilmember Elvig stated he did not mind the buffet dinner, but at $20 per person that was a
lot for a walk through buffet.

Councilmember Wise recommended the City look at other options.

Councilmember Jeffrey stated he was not opposed to having a gathering, but he was not in favor
of the theater performance or the high cost of the party.

Councilmember Dehen stated he liked the Northfork idea with a pig roast, or even Famous
Dave's.

City Administrator Ulrich noted a couple of ways to cut expenses was to eliminate the
Community Volunteers. He indicated the entertainment would probably not be able to be
reduced much. He stated the menu could be cut back significantly and to lower the expectations
for the meal.

Mayor Ramsey stated the party might have to be pushed into January, but this could be an issue
with the community theater.

Mayor Ramsey, and Councilmembers McGlone, Look, and Elvig stated they would like to have
the theater for the entertainment.

Mayor Ramsey stated he was okay with the pig roast idea.

It was Council's consensus was to have staff seek other catering bids and alternatives.

City Council Work Session / November 17, 2009
Page 7 of8
