Presentation
Planning Manager Miller presented the staff report.
Commissioner Cleveland returned to the meeting at 9:23 p.m.
Citizen Input
There was none.
Motion by Commissioner Cleveland, seconded by Commissioner Hunt, to close the public
hearing.
Motion Carried. Absent: Commissioner Rogers.
The public hearing closed at 9:29 p.m.
Commission Business
Planning Manager Miller clarified that items must be closer to the house than it is to the
fence/property line. The rational for this is to have the items be in sight of the owner rather than
the neighbors.
Discussion ensued regarding the requirement of items being closer to the house rather than the
property line.
Planning Manager Miller explained the administrative permit process if someone wanted to have
more items than allowed.
Commissioner Van Scoy questioned who makes the determination of the classification of items
on the property.
Planning Manager Miller stated it will be done through code enforcement.
Commissioner Van Scoy stated the whole idea behind this is to make enforcement more
consistent and easier. He questioned if there are grey areas, there could be some problems, is it
going to be based on the judgment of Staff.
Planning Manager Miller explained that as items come up they would be classified in City Code.
She continued explaining the enforcement process.
Discussion ensued regarding operable/inoperable vehicles and commercial vehicles. They
continued to discuss some language in the ordinance as well as whether to limit the size of items.
Planning Commission/December 3, 2009
