Case 3 ~
DISCUSSION OF ARCHITECTURAL STANDARDS IN THE CITY OF RAMSEY
By: Amy Geisler, Community Development Department

Background:

Committee Member Dvorak requested the Housing Committee discuss the status of
architectural standards that currently exis~ in City Code, particularly as it relates to
exterior color. One concern is that without some kind of control in place, new housing in
the city could be architecturally very similar.

Observations:

Current City Code does not specifically address the color of new housing in the City of
Ramsey. The new residential zoning districts were approved by the Cky Council in June
2002. Council will be revisiting the residential districts in the next few months for a
number of reasons, including the need to update requirements for architectural standards
in new developments. The Housing Committee may wish to make a recommendation to
the Council on the best way to approach architectural standards in City Code.

RI-lC Action:

None required.

Review Checklist:
City Administrator
Community Development Director
Associate Planner

RHC: 6.19.03
