Subsection 9.12.05 (Temporary Signs), Subdivisions 1 and 6 shall be amended to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> Subd. 1. Grand Openings and Public Events, Portable Signs, Balloons, Gas <br />Filled Figures, Streamers, Whirling Devices and Revolving Searchlights or any such sign <br />resembling the same, are prohibited from use within the city except for public events, or when <br />used as an integral part of the design of a building, or grand openings (the initial commencement <br />of business). In the case of grand openings or public events, whirling devices, streamers and <br />revolving searchlights shall be allowed for the week only of said public event or grand opening; <br />portable signs and balloons shall be allowed for up to thirty (30) days surrounding the public <br />event or grand opening. <br /> <br /> Subd. 6. Portable Signs are permitted only in business and industrial type districts <br />and are subject to temporary permit and fee requirements. Temporary sign permits for portable <br />signs shall be allowed for seven (7) day periods, six (6) times a year per business. However, <br />where more than one (1) proprietorship or business uses the same building or parcel, no more <br />than two (2) portable sign device shall be in place at any one time. <br /> <br />Subsection 9.12.07 (Residential Type Districts) shall be amended to include the following: <br /> <br /> Subd. 3. Home Occupation Signs. Home Occupations Signs may be permitted in <br />accordance with Section 9.11.04 (Home Occupations) of this City Code. <br /> <br />Subsection 9.12.08 (Business Type Districts) shall be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Subd. 1. <br /> <br />Business Use Signs <br /> <br />Wall, Canopy or Marquee Sign. Total sign area may not exceed fifteen <br />percent (15%) of the front building facade. Businesses in multi-tenant <br />buildings shall be allowed the proportionate share of the total wall sign area. <br />The total wall signage permitted may be distributed on any other building <br />fagade. Sign height shall not exceed the top of the parapet wall or, if no <br />parapet wall, sign height shall not exceed the height of the eaves. A wall, <br />canopy or marquee sign may be located on the outermost wall of any <br />principal building but shall not project more than sixteen (16) inches from <br />the wall to which the sign is to be affixed. The gross surface area of a wall, <br />canopy or marquee sign may be increased by ten percent (10%) if such wall <br />sign: <br /> <br />Consists only of individual, outlined alphabetic, numeric and/or <br />symbolic characters without background except that provided by the <br />building surface to which the sign is to be affixed; and <br /> <br />Illumination, if any, is achieved through shielded illumination, <br />shielded silhouette lighting, or shielded spot lighting but not any <br />lighting where the light source is visible or exposed on the face or <br />sides of the characters. <br /> <br />Ground Sign. There shall not be more than one (1) ground sign for each <br />parcel. The gross surface area of a ground sign shall not exceed one <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
