ORDINANCE #03-33 <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 9 WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE ZONING AND <br />SUBDIVISION OF LAND CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ADDING SECTION 9.24 "TREE PRESERVATION" TO CHAPTER 9 OF <br />THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. AMENDMENT <br /> <br />Section 9.24 "Tree Preservation" is added to Chapter 9 to read as follows: <br /> <br />9.24 <br /> <br />Tree Preservation <br /> <br />9.24.01 <br /> <br />General Provisions <br /> <br /> Subd. 1. Title. The short title of this Section shall be known as the Tree <br />Ordinance and will be hereinafter referred to as the "Tree Ordinance". <br /> <br /> Subd. 2. Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance to enhance the <br />community and its citizenry, and not to be punitive or to cause hardship to any individual, private <br />or public company. <br /> <br /> Subd. 3. Intent. The intent of the Tree Ordinance is to provide regulations <br />relating to the removal of trees to promote the orderly development of such areas and thereby <br />minimizing public and private losses. Furthermore, the Tree Ordinance will establish and <br />maintain appropriate levels of diversity among tree species and age classes to provide a stable <br />and sustainable community forest. The City Council finds that the following objectives are <br />important in achieving these goals: <br /> <br />ao <br /> <br />To continue to seek recognition as a Tree City USA and to take all <br />reasonable steps to promote planting and conservation of trees throughout <br />Ramsey; <br /> <br />bo <br /> <br />To promote good design in new areas and provide sensitive and <br />compatible infill development in existing commercial areas; <br /> <br />Co <br /> <br />To control epidemic tree diseases and insect infestations which threaten <br />the health of trees in the community; <br /> <br />To provide regulations that ensure the placement of trees along the street <br />right-of-way for the purpose of protecting against excessive noise, heat, <br />and glare, and to enhance the attractiveness and value of property; <br /> <br /> <br />
