location of any trees to be planted and setting forth measures to protect trees before, during and <br />after construction. <br /> <br /> Tree Protection Area - Any portion of a site wherein are located existing trees <br />which are proposed to be retained in order to comply with the requirements of this ordinance. <br />The tree protection area shall include no less than the total area beneath the tree canopy as <br />defined by the dripline of the tree or group of trees collectively. <br /> <br /> Tree Service - Any person, firm, or corporation engaged in the business of <br />cutting, trimming, pruning, spraying, injecting chemicals, or removing trees or shrubs for <br />compensation. <br /> <br /> Trees, Shrubs, and Natural Vegetation - All vegetation, woody or otherwise, <br />except grass and flowers less than 24 inches in height. <br /> <br /> Xeriscape - An integrated approach to landscape water conservation. Xeriscape <br />means dryscape or low water use landscaping. Xeriscapes are designed through wise planning, <br />plant and construction materials selection, and proper installation to provide beautiful, water <br />efficient, low maintenance landscapes. <br /> <br /> Zoning Buffer - A buffer, as defined and required by the Zoning Ordinance or as <br />a condition of zoning approval for a specific property. <br /> <br /> Zoning Ordinance - The Zoning Ordinance of the City of Ramsey, as amended <br />from time to time by the City. <br /> <br /> Subd. 5. Creation of the Ramsey Tree Book. The intent is to provide a set <br />of landscape design and maintenance principles that promote the use of appropriate plant <br />materials, which do not require special attention and which require little supplemental water to <br />grow properly. <br /> <br />ao <br /> <br />The Ramsey Tree Book will be available for reference and guidelines <br />regarding principles for tree preservation in the City. The book is to be <br />offered, upon request, to the citizens of Ramsey as well as the development <br />community and other interested parties. Copies will be available at City Hall. <br /> <br />The Ramsey Tree Book will also include lists of desirable and undesirable <br />trees, shrubs, and natural vegetation for the City. The Ramsey Tree Book <br />shall maintain an extensive list of recommended vegetation for planting. The <br />intent is to maintain diversity in the total tree population within the City. The <br />list of recommended species shall be updated periodically to reflect new <br />developments or species that will affect the population of the community <br />forest. <br /> <br />Subd. 6. Administration. <br /> <br />The City shall administer and enforce the provisions of this ordinance. The <br />City is hereby authorized to cause inspections on a scheduled basis when <br />reason exists to believe that a violation of this section has been or is being <br />committed. <br /> <br /> <br />
