ORDINANCE #03~35 CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 3.20, WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE PER- SONNEL POLICY OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAP- TER 3.20 OF THE CITY CODE, TITLED "PERSONNEL POLICY" BY THE ADDI- TION OF 3.20.24 TITLED "CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND INVESTIGA- TIONS.' The City of Ramsey ordains: SECTION 1. SUMMARY The following official summary of Ordinance #03-35 has been approved by the City Council of the City of Ramsey as clearly informing the public of the intent and effect of the Ordinance. It is the intent and effect of Ordinance #03-3.5 to authorize the City of Ramsey Police Department to conduct criminal background investigations on finalists for City positions. Before the investigation is undertaken, the applicant must authorize the Police Department, in writing, to undertake the investigation and to release the information to the City Administrator or other staff as appropri- ate. Only conviction information related directly to the position sought will be considered. The information collected as a result of adoption of this ordinance is currently classified as public. SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE This Ordinance becomes effective upon its passage and thirty (30) ~days after its publication according to law.
