CASE #~
REQUEST ANOKA COUNTY TO HAVE A SPEED STUDY PERFORMED ON CR 57
BETWEEN HIGHWAY 10 AND BUNKER LAKE BLVD
By: Steven Jankowski, Assistant City Engineer
Background:
Businesses located along Sunfish Lake Blvd between Highway 10 and Bunker Lake Blvd have
expressed concern over the traffic speed through this section of roadway. Sunfish Lake Blvd (aka
CSAH 57) is under the jurisdiction of Anoka County. With some exceptions, local jurisdictions
must have legal speed limits approved by the Commissioner of Transportation following an
engineering study. The, current speed limit along this segment is 45 mph. It is required that the
local jurisdiction must make a request to MnDot for consideration for a speed limit change.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the Committee recommend to the City Council that Anoka County
request a speed study be undertaken to determine the appropriate speed limit for the segment of
Sunfish Lake Blvd between TH 10 and Bunker Lake Blvd.
Action:
Motion to recommend to the City Council that Anoka County request a speed study be
undertaken to determine the appropriate speed limit for the segment of Sunfish Lake Blvd
between TH 10 and Bunker Lake Blvd.
Reviewed By:
Director of Public Works/Principal City Engineer
City Engineer
PW Street Supervisor
Chief of Police
CC: 01/19/10
