Invasive Species EducationlWeb Page
By: Chris Anderson, Environmental Coordinator

Background:

CASE # 2

In February, the Board began discussing options for an educational tool focusing on invasive
species. The consensus of the Board was to develop a web page that provided some basic
background information on invasive species-and include a list of invasive species coupled with
an image. Rather than replicate other sites that already exist, the Board suggested just linking to
either the MN DNR's site or the Anoka Conservation District's site. Both include all the
pertinent information on individual invasive species.

Observations:

Staffhas put together a draft concept for the Board to review. Other species that could be added,
such as narrow leaf cattail, smooth brome and poison ivy (even though this is a native species),
ht;Lt this is intended to give the Board something to consider initially. Staff will have a laptop and
projector on hand for the Board to preview the layout/concept.

Recommendation:

The Board should be prepared to review the layout and species as well as discuss the next step( s)
with this information.

EPB Action

Based.on discussion.

EPB: 3/1110
