City staff was contacted by the Boy Scouts about acquiring the
building that is on the property and moving it to their camp. She noted an email attached
to the Topic Report re the building use proposal. Ms. Miller stated there is some asbestos
as well as lead paint in the building. She reported that someone else had stopped in
recently to inquire about this building and the Fire Department has expressed an interest
in utilizing the building for a practice burn. She spoke with the Metropolitan Council
about any kind of restrictions. If the building would be sold, the funds would have to go
back into RALF and this is a fairly common transaction. She introduced Joe Grimme and
Pete O'Brien representing the Boy Scouts and Friends of Camp Gronholm.
Mayor Ramsey inquired if staff checked with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency or
any other agency that may hold the City liable for anything.
City Council Work Session — January 5, 2010
Page 1 of 9
soy
