Mayor Ramsey expressed being in favor of fixing the desk permanently.
Councilmember Look inquired how much it would cost.
Mayor Ramsey stated that we all have individual monitors that cannot be seen as we are
using our laptops.
Councilmember Dehen figured it would be at least a $10,000 job to which
Councilmember Elvig thought more like $3,000.
It was stated that the height of the chairs is a problem as well as the height of the desk.
Deputy City Administrator Nelson offered to look at changing out the arms on the chairs.
She added that when we originally talked about lowering the desk, the idea was we
needed to lower the under piece as well to work with the monitors.
Mayor Ramsey thought you could tilt them and move it up. He added he would like to
see some options and bids to fix it.
Councilmember McGlone stated he is not interested in doing anything to the Council
desk.
Councilmember Wise felt that the whole room is messed up so where do you stop. He
added he is okay with investigating a bid to lower the desk.
Consensus was to look at doing this — Mayor Ramsey and Councilmember Elvig along
with the City Administrator and the Deputy City Administrator would meet and get a bid
and bring it back. Councilmembers Dehen and Look reiterated they were not interested.
Ms. Nelson added that she will look at options for the chair arms as well.
Ms. Nelson reported that staff will probably be moving by the end of the month or so.
MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT
1) Electrical Inspector
Upon Council request, staff provided an update relative to the RFP for electrical
inspector.
2) Rental Licensing
Upon Council request, staff provided an update relative to rental licensing and that it will
be on the Council agenda of January 12.
City Council Work Session — January 5, 2010
Page 8 of 9
