Anoka County's 1980
preliminary population is 195,462 and its 1980 preliminary housing
units are 62,770. The preliminary numbers include your input from the
local review process.

.

We would still like to increase the County's population, since municipalities
in the County can acquire more and significantly higher Federal and
State grants if our population is 200,000 or more. If municipalities
can still challenge the housing or popu1ati~n figures arithmetically, we
would consolidate and forward the new. challenges to the regional Federal
Census office in Kansas City. . Building permits, group quarters, and
long term care facilities could be analyzed. Municipality surveys could
be helpful, although it should be noted that military personnel and
college students are counted in the municipality they were residing in
on April 1, 1980.

We need to share and generate possible ways to challenge the data. We
will hold a meeting to discuss the Federal Census at Bunker Hills Activity
Center on January 14, 1981, from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 ~.M., in Room A.
Please call me at 421-4760, extension 1219 if you have any questions.

s;::;;: ~

Bruce Goodman
Management Analyst
County Administration Office

BG:cg
Attachment

/D 2 -d

Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer
