Voting No:
Councilmember McGlone.
The meeting was recessed at 7:05 p.m. and reconvened at 8:15 p.m.
Case #3: Summary for 2009 Utilities Department
Utilities Supervisor Nelson reviewed the staff report.
There were no questions or discussion among the Committee members regarding the summary.
Case #4: Consider Policy on Sidewalk Installation
City Engineer Jankowski reviewed the staff report.
Councilmember McGlone believed sidewalks were an extension of where a person was getting
to so to designate trail fund money for sidewalks would be a good idea. He wanted to be
proactive with sidewalk installation.
Councilmember Dehen stated it would be nice to get a trail or sidewalk connection in his area to
other places considering the isolation of the neighborhood.
The Committee discussed the sidewalk maintenance, priority, and special assessments and
recommended staff get back to the Committee.
Case #5: Discuss Railroad Quiet Zone Improvements Along Jarvis Street and 165tH
Avenue in Elk River
City Engineer Himmer reviewed the staff report.
Motion by Chairperson Elvig, Seconded by Councilmember McGlone, to have staff look into
potential purchase of Pearson Overpass Rail Crossing.
Further Discussion: Councilmember Dehen stated he was against this as he had met with the
individual twice and he believed it would drive up the price now if it was approached at this
time. He recommended not doing anything right now and if something came forward, it could be
apart of the negotiations.
Chairperson Elvig retracted his motion.
Chairperson Elvig recommended the Committee continue this discussion next month.
COMMITTEE INPUT
None.
Public Works Committee /February 16, 2010
Page 4 of 5
