NOTE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES The following Council minutes were noted: 1) City Council regular meeting minutes dated November 24, 2009 PUBLIC HEARINGS /COMMISSION BUSINESS Case #1: Public Hearing — Request for an Interim Use Permit to Allow for the Operation of a Place of Assembly in the E -2 Employment District at 7101 143 "d Ave NW; Case of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Community Public Hearing Chairperson Levine called the public hearing to order at 7.07 p.m. Presentation Associate Planner Gladhill presented the staff report. Commissioner Van Scoy excused himself from the meeting as a member of St. Katharine Drexel and the Parish Council at 7:10 p.m. Citizen Input Commissioner Brauer asked if there were enough exits in the plan. Associate Planner Gladhill stated the Building Official and Fire Inspector would be looking at the final building plans and the Building Official was comfortable moving forward with the interim use permit at this time. Steve Dufon, 15539 Salish St NW, chairman of the Building Committee of St. Katharine Drexel, stated that about a year ago they came forward with a plan to build a permanent structure on 161 sc and Variolite, however, the Diocese put a moratorium on new building. Mr. Dufon explained this interim use permit would allow the office space and needed Sunday space to be under a single roof, until such time building could begin on their new facility. Discussion ensued on the wall locations and sizes. There are a total of 204 seats and this would give adequate seating for a typical Sunday and would meet the short term needs of the church. Commissioner Levine asked about the lease. Mr. Dufon stated it is a two year lease with an option for a third year. He stated that they are aware that some striping of parking spaces in the back might be needed and they have had that conversation with Sharp and Associates.
