NOTE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br />The following Council minutes were noted: <br />1) City Council regular meeting minutes dated November 24, 2009 <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS /COMMISSION BUSINESS <br />Case #1: Public Hearing — Request for an Interim Use Permit to Allow for the <br />Operation of a Place of Assembly in the E -2 Employment District at 7101 <br />143 "d Ave NW; Case of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Community <br />Public Hearing <br />Chairperson Levine called the public hearing to order at 7.07 p.m. <br />Presentation <br />Associate Planner Gladhill presented the staff report. <br />Commissioner Van Scoy excused himself from the meeting as a member of St. Katharine Drexel <br />and the Parish Council at 7:10 p.m. <br />Citizen Input <br />Commissioner Brauer asked if there were enough exits in the plan. <br />Associate Planner Gladhill stated the Building Official and Fire Inspector would be looking at <br />the final building plans and the Building Official was comfortable moving forward with the <br />interim use permit at this time. <br />Steve Dufon, 15539 Salish St NW, chairman of the Building Committee of St. Katharine Drexel, <br />stated that about a year ago they came forward with a plan to build a permanent structure on 161 sc <br />and Variolite, however, the Diocese put a moratorium on new building. Mr. Dufon explained <br />this interim use permit would allow the office space and needed Sunday space to be under a <br />single roof, until such time building could begin on their new facility. <br />Discussion ensued on the wall locations and sizes. There are a total of 204 seats and this would <br />give adequate seating for a typical Sunday and would meet the short term needs of the church. <br />Commissioner Levine asked about the lease. Mr. Dufon stated it is a two year lease with an <br />option for a third year. He stated that they are aware that some striping of parking spaces in the <br />back might be needed and they have had that conversation with Sharp and Associates. <br />Planning Commission /January 7, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />
