Stat. $ 41?301 • • Sign all official city papers. <br />• Post and publish such notices, ordinances, and resolutions as may be <br />required. <br />• Perform such other duties as may be imposed by the council. <br />In addition to these duties, Standard Plan city clerks also serve as members <br />of the council. <br />2. Plan B cities <br />Minn. star. § 412.681. Plan B city clerks are subject to the direction of the city manager and have <br />the following statutory duties: <br />• Keep public records. <br />• Maintain custody of and disburse public funds. <br />• Administer city affairs as ordained by the council. <br />Minn. Stat. § 412.681. In addition to the above duties, the clerk may be designated to act as <br />secretary to the council. <br />3. Home rule charter cities <br />As previously mentioned, the role of a city clerk in a home rule charter city <br />will depend upon provisions in the city's charter. Home rule charter cities <br />should consult their charters to determine whether there is a clerk position <br />within the city and what specific powers the clerk possesses. <br />4. Financial responsibilities <br />See Handbthik. Chapter 26. Except for those records the city treasurer must keep, the clerk maintains <br />all financial records. When the city has combined the office of clerk and <br />treasurer, the clerk performs all duties.
