Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig and Councilmembers Dehen and McGlone. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Consider Request for Proposals - Mowing and Weekly Park Facility and <br />Trash Maintenance Services <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood reviewed the staff report. <br /> <br />The Committee discussed having County Corrections do the mowing and weekly park and trash <br />services. It was the Committee's consensus to have staff contact County Corrections to <br />determine the County's interest and come back to the Council at the next Council meeting if this <br />was a possibility. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Consider Action Relating to the Temporary Closure of 1420d Avenue <br /> <br />Assistant City Engineer Jankowski reviewed the staff report. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig opened the meeting up for public comments at 5:53 p.m. <br /> <br />Denise Albrecht, 5313 143rd- Avenue, stated since the street was closed her traffic had increased <br />and it had not slowed down the traffic. She believed all that happened was that the traffic was <br />diverted to her neighborhood. She stated there needed to be a solution for the entire <br />neighborhood and not just certain residents. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig stated the reason it was a temporary closure was to see the cause and effect. <br />He noted according to the traffic study, the count going by Ms. Albrecht's home had actually <br />gone down. <br /> <br />Ms. Albrecht believed the Council needed to do something with Dysprosium. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig summarized what the proposal was for Dysprosium in the future. <br /> <br />Greg Rygg, 14279 Argon Street NW, stated he lived in this area as well as being the mail carrier. <br />He thanked the Council for closing 1420d Avenue. He noted he had not had one accident in front <br />of his house where the hill was since the closure. He stated the traffic on Dysprosium was a pain <br />before and now with the closure, it probably did increase the traffic on Dysprosium. He asked if <br />they could have the possibility of a break away gate. He stated he was in support of the closure. <br />He did not believe the businesses were that affected by the closure. <br /> <br />Ray Cook, 141 st Avenue, stated the medians did not allow a left turn and with the closure it was <br />a ll}.ajor inconvenience. He believed the reason for the extra traffic in the area was because of the <br />apartment complex.
