Councilmember Look introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #09-11-257 <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS MONTH <br />WHEREAS, the Anoka County Community Continuum of Care, along with the Heading <br />Home committee is sponsoring a unique, countywide education and awareness campaign to help <br />end homelessness in our shared communities. The month of November will mark the SLEEP <br />OUT 2009, Be Part of Something B16, 2"d Annual Community Challenge; and <br />WHEREAS, the SLEEP OUT 2009 provides a unique opportunity for the City of <br />Ramsey to join forces with communities across Anoka County in an effort to promote education <br />and awareness to help end homelessness; and <br />WHEREAS, the Anoka County Community Continuum of Care and the Heading Home <br />Anoka committees play a vital role in bringing together the community and establishing needed <br />partnerships to support homelessness prevention efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, it is essential that all citizens of the City of Ramsey be aware of the <br />importance of homelessness prevention and the impact their participation can have on ensuring <br />that all individuals and families have access to a warm, safe place to call home in our <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, community partnerships, awareness, and the desire to provide warm, safe <br />housing in our community are important themes of the SLEEP OUT 2009, Be Part of Something <br />BIG, 2"d Annual Community Challenge. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />That the City Council of Ramsey calls upon all citizens of the City of Ramsey to join the <br />Anoka County Community Continuum of Care and Heading Home Anoka committees in <br />supporting the SLEEP OUT 2009, Be Part of Something BIG, 2"a Annual Community <br />Challenge during the month of November. <br />2. That the month of November is hereby proclaimed "Homelessness Awareness" month in <br />the City of Ramsey. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Dehen, upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Look <br />Councilmember Dehen <br />Councilmember McGlone <br />Councilmember Wise <br />
