Councilmember Look introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #09-12-275 <br />CONSIDER A RESOLUTION ELIMINATING A BUILDING INSPECTIONS POSITION <br />AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH INSPECTRON FOR INSPECTIONS <br />SERVICES <br />WHEREAS, an analysis of building permit data from 2003-2009 has shown a steady <br />decline in activity; and <br />WHEREAS, contracting for building inspection services will allow the city to manage <br />from day to day the number of hours that are needed for building inspections thereby reducing <br />the costs of providing this service to residents and contractors; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has weighed the pros and cons of maintaining current <br />staffing levels and entering into a contract for inspections services; and <br />WHEREAS, at the December 1, 2009 Work Session, the City Council agreed by <br />consensus to eliminate the city's remaining building inspector position and enter into a contract <br />for inspections services with Inspectron. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />That the City Council of the City of Ramsey eliminates a building inspector position and <br />will lay off Mr. Steve Lutmer effective March 9, 2010. The City Council further <br />authorizes staff to enter into a contract with Inspectron for inspections services effective <br />March 9, 2010. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Elvig, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Look <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Dehen <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />Councilmember McGlone <br />Councilmember Wise <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />None <br />
