CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
Topic Report: Naming of the New Mid-Sized
Conference Room in the Ramsey Municipal Center
By: Jessica L. Hendricks, Management Intern
Background:
The new conference room that is being constructed as a part of the upcoming build-out is expected to be
completed on June 1, 2010. In preparation for the new room, City Council will need to choose a name.
Presently the theme for conference room names centers on water, with the exception of the Alexander Ramsey
Room. Following is a list of current conference room names:
Eddy Lake Room
Ford Brook Room
Lake Itasca Room
Mississippi River Room
Rum River Room
Sunfish Lake Room
Trott Brook Room
If the Council is interested in continuing with the theme of water, there are other local bodies of water, one of
which could be utilized as a namesake:
Emerald Pond
Thorn Lake
Rogers Lake
Jeglen's Marsh
Trillium Falls
The Council also has the option of tying the name of the new conference room to Ramsey Town Center, by
using it as a namesake. As a part of the branding exercise, it has been decided that the area of Town Center
surrounding the Municipal Center will be called The Cor. The Cor signifies that this area is the center of Town
Center, as well as being an acronym for the City of Ramsey. Like the Town Center Cor, the new conference
room will be located in the center.
Funding Source:
The costs associated with the new name have been included in the signage proposal as a part of the build-out
package.
Action Statement:
Based on discussion. Direction given at the Work Session will be presented on the Consent Agenda at the
April 13, 2010 City Council meeting for formal consideration.
Reviewed by:
Deputy City Administri~p~JC~'om~uni a elopment Director
City Administrator: ~~
CCWS: 04/13/10
