Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CHARTER COMMISSION TO CONSIDER <br />RECOMMENDING AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 8 OF THE CITY CHARTER, <br />RELATED TO MUNICIPAL UTILITY CONNECTIONS <br />WHEREAS, Section 8.6.1 of the City Charter references that the City may not compel property <br />owners with functional private sewer and water systems to connect to municipal utility services; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to amend this section by removing the language related to <br />functional private systems to better clarify that the City will not force utility connections on residents; <br />and <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />The City Council requests the Charter Commission to consider recommending an ordinance to amend <br />Section 8.6.1 of the City Charter by amending the existing language as follows: <br />The City may not compel any property owner <br />connect to City sewer and/or water. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the <br />13 day of April 2010. <br />ATTEST: <br />RESOLUTION #10- 04 -XXX <br />Mayor <br />RESOLUTION #10- 04 -XXX <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
