Parks Supervisor Riverblood replied that there are some permitting issues that need to be addressed as well as completion of the Memorandum of Understanding. MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT Joint City Council Meetings with Anoka & Nowthen Councils City Administrator Ulrich requested input from the Council on possible dates for a meeting with the City of Anoka and proposed a meeting on the second Monday in May, June, or July. It was the consensus of the City Council to meet with the City of Anoka on July 12. It was also the consensus of the City Council to schedule a meeting with Nowthen officials in late April or early May. Concern about Flaherty and Collins Brian Peterson, 5194 147 Lane, appeared before the City Council and stated he recently learned that the City is in discussions with Flaherty and Collins about building a 200+ apartment/condo complex with first level retail. He expressed concern that this company was not a local company and had apparently declared bankruptcy in the last few months. Mayor Ramsey clarified that this company did not file bankruptcy and Mr. Peterson may be referencing a project in North Carolina that was not completed. He added the City is open to hearing from other companies about this project. Councilmember McGlone stated that Flaherty and Collins operates in 13 or 14 states and owns a large amount of real estate, and the company is in good financial condition. He added if the City uses this company, they will use all local construction companies and local labor, and the only people coming in here would be the supervisors of the project.
