K & K Sharp, LLC
10907-93rd Avenue North
r~apie isrove, r~i~155369-4199
March 4, 2010
Ramsey City Mayor and Council
City of Ramsey
7550 Sunwood Drive
Ramsey, MN 55303
RE: Letters received from Bill Goodrich pertaining to increased
taxes for 6701 and 6745 Hwy 10 in Ramsey.
Dear Mr. Mayor and Council
I have just recently pulled a property account summary for the above
referenced properties which I rent from the City of Ramsey because I
was astonished at the increase in taxes, as reflected by Mr. Goodrich's
letters. All of the properties that I have an interest in have not
shown anywhere near these increases in values or taxes.
When I agreed to lease these properties in 2006 I was told that the
City only wanted to cover their expenses because any excess would be
turned over to the state Highway Dept, with the land, sometime in the
future. I assume this is true. I was also told that in the hands of the
City, there are no real estate taxes, which have turned out to be false.
The City Council in 2008 decided we should pay our share of the
taxes based on the value of the portion of the buildings we leased.
This is the normal way most property leases are handled but contrary
to the lease we have signed with the City, which was thoroughly
discussed and drafted by the City Attorney.
PHONE (763) 424-6520
FAX (763) 425-6428
