life. He mentioned that his son once worked at the Gun Club and enjoyed it very much. He
indicated he was the one that complained about the caravan of trucks, stating he has driven dump
trucks and knows they are slow, but the way the caravan slows traffic is an issue. He stated he
also has a problem with the commercial use in a residential area. He stated the Gun Club has
been there for years and residents have to appreciate that, as most moved in knowing it was there.
He stated his concern was with the heavy commercial vehicles in the area. He realizes that
nobody wants a business in his or her backyard, but he does not believe it is approi~fiate for this
area and would like to see the Council deny the request.

Bob Hambrook, 15755 Traprock indicated he has concerns about water, and 'about having
commercial use in a residential area. He does not like that it was done without following City
procedure of getting approval before putting tracks there, as he thinks it shows disrespect.

Mr. Fredericks stated that everyone having blacktop driveways is not true, and a study or research
of blacktop components versus materials mixed together should be done before approving, as
they behave differently separately and he would not want a single component to saturate the
ground.

Associate Planner Wald indicated that Staff went on site, and Able Paving is not bringing used
material on site, it is mainly gravel and sand.

Mr. Able indicated that they keep oil and antifreeze in the garage, on concrete, with a pump to
get it out. Also 90 weight oil for gear lubing and maybe some transmission fluid.

Commissioner Nixt asked if they had barrel deposits.

Mr. Able indicated there was no deposit. He stated the man who brings the barrels takes away
the old. He indicated they do not build anything, on the property, there is no asphalt product there.
on purpose, just sand and dirt, and the 6nly dirt is from some other driveway. He stated they
sometimes haul dirt and put it in another driveway to raise or lower it. He indicated the only
product might be Class 5.

Commissioner Brauer asked if they were doing maintenance on site.

Mr. Able indicated sometimes they might do an oil change or a brake job.

Commissioner Brauer asked where other maintenance work was done.

Mr. Able stated the big jobs would go t° a shop. They may do a roUtine tire change or oil
change. He indicated they are running their business there. He stated that concerning the 6:00
a.m. timeframe, most of the time his employees do not show up until 7:00 a.m., and leave the
propetnty about 7:30 a.m., it is only occasionally 6:00 a.m.

A motion was made by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Van Scoy to close the
public hearing at 7:25 p.m.

Planning Commission/February 6, 2003

-25-
