LOWER RUM RIVER WATERSHED MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION JULY 15, 1993 CALL TO ORDER Vice Chair Steve Jankowski called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. in the Committee Room of Anoka City Hall. ROLL CALL Voting members present were Steve Jankowski, Ramsey; Ben Ferguson, Coon Rapids; Bruce Perry, Andover Alternate; and John Weaver, Anoka. Also present were Ray Schultz, Anoka Alternate; Bob Beduhn, Consulting Engineer; Curtis Pearson, Legal Consultant; Todd Baas, Andover staff representative; Deputy Treasurer Jim Knutson; and Bob Litke, area Boy Scout Camp representative. CONSIDERATION OF THE MINUTES Motion was made by Weaver, seconded by Ferguson, to APPROVE THE JUNE 23, 1993, MEETING MINUTES AS PRINTED. 3 ayes - 0 nayes - 1 present (Perry). Motion carried. Boy Scout Camp Proiect (Addendum) Bob Litke, representative of the Boy Scout Camp located in Ramsey, explained he is proposing to expand the pond at the Boy Scout Camp in order to get emergent cattails to grow. Said project is being funded by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Department of Agriculture. The expansion project will consist of increasing the pond along one side and going three to four feet deeper. A map of the existing pond was provided for the board's information. Mr. Litke indicated the pond is 250-300 feet from the county drainage ditch. There is reportedly never any accumulation of water in here until it gets to ground water. Mr. Litke went on to further state they want to expand at the high side and put drainage on the shallow side. They also plan to put an island on both ends. A soil map and aerial photo were also provided. Mr. Litke stated this is not federally protected land. The comments received from other agencies were: DNR, good project; ASCS, fine; Anoka County Soil and Water Conservation District, OK but keep the drainage area shallow. Mr. Litke
