Projections of based aircraft although somewhat higher than regional
forecasts, do not appear unreasonable when one considers the recent
growth in based aircraft at the Buffalo Municipal Airport after a
paved runway was developed and, the fact that regional forecasts do
not cover the Gateway service area in Wright and Sherburne Counties.
No substantial changes in the forecasts should be needed.
5. The EIAR assessment of the relationship between Gateway and Search
Area A appears consistent with known ground access planning for bridge
crossings in the Anoka area. The Mississippi River will likely remain
a barrier through the airport planning period.
6. The City is aware of the need to examine the Gateway development in
the context of a comprehensive plan amendment. Future integration of
the airport as a public owned facility into the regional system is
outlined in the Aviation Guide Chapter.
Recommendation
That the Metropolitan Council transmit these comments for consideration by the
City of Ramsey and the Ramsey Airport Commission.
JM2247.PHTRNI@5
-5-
8-9
