City of Ramsey <br />15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA 55303 • 1612) 427-1410 <br />July 27, 1988 <br />Mr. Frank Benson <br />Chief - Airports District Office <br />Federal Aviation Administration <br />6301 - 34th Avenue South <br />Minneapolis, MN 55450 <br />Re: Compatible Land Use Assurances <br />Gateway North Industrial Airport <br />Dear Mr. Benson: <br />The City Council of Ramsey has authorized me to offer the following <br />assurances and to take such steps as may be necessary to implement <br />the assurances to help ensure that future development in the <br />airport environs are compatible with the future development, <br />operational goals and safety of the airport. <br />To the extent permitted by law, home rule charter and available <br />funds, the City will undertake the following actions: <br />• Acquire lands and easement of the airfield and approaches as <br />indicated on the ALP. Acquisition of said properties, however, <br />is dependent on funding approvals. The City's intent is to make <br />maximum use of state and federal airport improvement funding. <br />• The City has established an Airport Zoning Board which will <br />continue to work towards implementation of airport height <br />limitation and land use safety zoning acceptable to the State <br />Director of Aeronautics. <br />• The City shall use its best efforts to resolve the landfill <br />expansion/airport compatibility issues. The City has recently <br />placed (May, 1988) a moratorium on landfill development within <br />the City (copy attached). <br />10-2 <br />
