~I
The area included in the clear and safety zones for the southeast primary runway
' approach is again zoned entirely for industrial use with much of it adjacent to
the railroad and/or highway facilities. At least one new industrial facility in
' the Gateway North Industrial Park would fall within zone A and would have to be
' removed. Anew sawdust and shaving company, in the same industrial park, and
several retail-commercial enterprises located between the railroad and the high-
' way would lie within zone B for that southeast approach area and might not con-
form to the zone restrictions. The restrictions associated with safety zones A
' and B would prevent or seriously diminish the development of prime business-
' commercial and industrial zoned lands along the Burlington Northern railroad
and U. S. Highway #10, #52, and #169.
No developments currently exist within the clear zone and zone A for the north
approach area of Runway 13-31, but the lands are zoned and desirable for indus-
trial and residential development. Most of zone B is also undeveloped except
for the northern corner where a small residential development, which may meet
' the zone restrictions, is platted.
Alternate #3
Primary runway 11-29, as used in Alternate #1, is again utilized in alternate
layout #3 but the crosswind runway has been rotated more northerly-southerly
' to a 7-25 orientation, as shown in Figure 5, to achieve greater wind coverage.
As with Alternate #1, Primary Runway 11-29 attains only a 78 percent wind
' coverage while the combined runway wind coverage slightly exceeds 86 percent.
The location and impacts associated with Primary Runway 11-29 are the same as
' detailed with Alternate #1. Crosswind runway 7-25 maintains minimum horizontal
' 15
