1
crosswind runway alignment of 9-27 are utilized on alternate layout #5 as shown
' oh Figure 7. A wind coverage in excess of 83 percent is attained with Runway
14-32 and a combined runway wind. coverage. of over 92 percent is achieved by
' adding Runway 9-27.
' The `r
nwa
"
l
o
t
th
G
l Mill
i i
u
y
.
ay
u
s on
e
enera
s s te ar e bas
cally to the north. of Lake
' Itasca in order to minimize the impacts on the prime commercial-industrial lands
adjacent to Highway 10, 52, and 169 and to the Burlington Northern tracks.
' Primary Runway 14-32 is situated as far to the southeast as possible without
the safety zones in .the southeast approach zone encroaching on developed resi-
t dential lots. The. extreme eastern corner of zo ne B includes a park area, a
' permitted use in such zones, while the remainder of the southeast approach
zohes overlays undeveloped property. In fact, most of the clear zone and zone
' A and a portion of zone B lie in a floodway fringe area.
' The primary surface, the northwest clear zone, and zone A of the northwest
' approach area to Runway 14-32 include rural service lands which are either
wooded or farmed. Much of zone B to the northwest includes floodway to County
' Ditch 51 - Trott Brooks which is non-developable.
Crosswind runway 9-27 is also situated as far to the east as possible without
encroaching onto developed residential lands with the safety zones. As a result,
1 h
t
muc
of
he east clear zone and safety zones A and B fall over floodway fringe
' zoned lands. The crosswind runway's primary surface and west approach zones
occupy farml and and wooded areas which are included in the rural service area
' (see Figure 2).
J
' 17
