in the south building area. The total development cost for the mid-term projects is •
estimated at S2 million dollars.
Long-term projects for the airport include the construction of a pazallel
runway (Runway 4/22) and taxiway as recommended in the Comprehensive Airport
Development Plan and the provision of additional aircraft storage to meet the
airport's projected growth is based aircraft. The total development cost for the long-
term projects is estimated at 54.6 million No replacement or maintenance cost
estimates, other than those provided is the MAC capital improvement plan, are
included.
A summary of projects and potential funding sources for Airlake Airport are
provided in Table V-13.
(7) Svstem Plan ContinQencv
•
Considering the airport's location in the southern part of the metropolitan
region and its relative distance from the other relievers, it will not be affected if
primary recommendations are not implemented at other system airports. If the
recommendations for the airport are not implemented, it will affect its ability to
effectively serve as a reliever for Minneapolis-St. Paul International, especially when
wind conditions do not allow airport operations. The airport, however, would still
have the operational and storage capacity to serve the southern portion of the
metropolitan region. Two secondary ring airports, Faribault Municipal and Carleton
Airport is Stanton, are located approximately 25 miles.south of Airlake. Although
both are open for public operations, these airports will have little impact on needed
development at Airlake.
LJ
V-95
