(3) Other General Aviation:A;=roo <br />Because airport service boundaries aze not necessarily constrained by political <br />or planning boundaries, it was necessary to identify additional airports that could <br />potentially serve demand generated in the study azea. These airports were included <br />to examine their current roles and identify potential opportunities to expand the <br />operational capacity and capability of the regional airport system. Other general <br />aviation airports that were identified (shown on FsWbit I-11) include: <br />Benson Airport <br />Buffalo Municipal Airport <br />Cambridge Municipal Airport <br />Faribault Municipal Airport <br />Forest Lake Airport <br />Gateway North Industrial Airport <br />Glencoe Municipal Airport <br />Le Sueur Municipal Airport <br />New Richmond Municipal Airport <br />Osceola Airport <br />Stanton (Cazleton Municipal Airport) <br />Winsted Municipal Airport <br />Northport Airport <br />1. Benson Airport <br />Benson Airport is located in the northeastern corner of Ramsey County. <br />It is a privately owned (restricted public use) airport that predominantly serves <br />area glider enthusiasts. This airport is classified as a Basic Utility airport and <br />has a 1,935-foot long by 145-foot wide turf runway (12/30). T'he airport is <br />encroached upon by urban development. Benson Airport is accessible by <br />Route 61. <br />2. Buffalo Municipal Airport <br />Buffalo Muniapal Airport is located northwest of Minneapolis. T1re <br />airport is publicly owned by the Qty of Buffalo, and is located approximately <br />two miles away from the aty. Buffalo Airport has been identified as a Basic <br />Utility facility, based on the number of twin arrcraft based at the airport and <br />the volume and type of traffic Buffalo Airport is accessible by County Road <br />134. Currently, We facility covers 57 acres; however, according to local <br />officiaLS, a program is in place to acquire an additiona1240 acres. Buffalo <br />Airport has x2,600-foot long by 60-foot wide paved runway (17/35). <br />I-20 <br />
