I. RELIEVER INVENTORY <br />The initial step in the Regional System Reliever Airports Study was to collect <br />data on existing and planned airport facilities, aircraft activity and storage methods, <br />a nd existing aviation and community plans for the Minneapolis -St. Paul area. <br />Inventory data forms were submitted to each of the seven reliever airports for <br />Minneapolis -St. Paul International Airport, as well as other general aviation airports <br />to assist in collecting this data. On -site visits were then made to each of the <br />reliever airports to collect and verify the inventory information. Transient pilots <br />and registered aircraft owners in the study area were also surveyed to obtain their <br />input on needs for the reliever airport system. <br />The inventory conducted for the Regional System Reliever Airports Study is <br />discussed in the following sections: <br />Study Area <br />• Existing Airport System <br />. STUDY AREA <br />The study area for the Regional System Reliever Airports Study covers 19 <br />counties in southeast Minnesota and southwest Wisconsin (see Exhibit I-1).
