2) Roof -ceiling systems including materials, elevations, sections, <br />thermal or acoustical insulation used, R-values and STC values <br />where available (or estimated). <br />3) Window specifications and schedule, product(s) upon which window <br />specifications were based, R-values and STC values where <br />available (or estimated). <br />4) Exterior door specifications and schedule, product(s) upon which <br />door specifications were based, R-values and STC values where <br />available (or estimated). <br />c. Basement and floor -ceiling details if basement is vented or has <br />windows, doors, or other major penetrations through the exterior <br />walls. <br />d. Attic -space venting and information on thermal or acoustical <br />insulation not provided elsewhere. <br />e. Heating/ventilating system (and fireplaces), especially details of <br />any penetration through exterior walls or roof. <br />f. Specifications for airtight seals on windows and doors. <br />g. Specifications for caulking and treatment of penetrations through <br />exterior walls. <br />h. Room finish schedules, especially if carpet or other acoustically <br />absorbant materials are to be installed. <br />i. Any other information that may be helpful in estimating the overall <br />noise reduction of the exterior surface of the structure. <br />4. A complete set of plans and specifications can be submitted in lieu of the <br />information outlined above in Number 3 if all relevant information is <br />included. <br />STEP 6: DETERMINE COMPONENT STC RATINGS <br />Estimate STC ratings from the following tables for roof -ceiling, wall, window <br />construction, glazing, and door assemblies. The STC rating is a single -number <br />rating based upon a standard laboratory procedure. The basis for this rating <br />is described in Appendix C. STC ratings will be used in Steps 8 through 10 to <br />determine whether the proposed windows are satisfactory. <br />1 <br />
