We have been more
than a passive observer in the aviation activity of the airport since that time.
The Gateway North Airport is a valuable and active facility in serving the public's access
to the northwestern suburban area of Minnesota. Currently, the AVTI has 46 students
enrolled and attending the facilities at Gateway North Airport. Ten to fifteen of these
students are currently taking flight training from the F.B.O., Gateway Aero. We are
noting a growing interest in flight training among our students because of the current
pilot hiring trends. (8500 pilots were hired by major carriers in 1985.)
We also have students employed by Gateway Aero as service personnel. We also have
observed a growing level of activity on the airport in the last year with an increase in the
number of based aircraft and a new large service hangar that was just completed.
In summary, I would like to impress upon you the vitability of Gateway North Airport and
feel that any expansion or upgrading to the facilities is certainly warranted.
Sincerely,
Caroline Rosdahl
Assistant Director
enneth Patz, Chairman
Aviation/Air Traffic Control Program
KP/sn/D2
Anoka -Hennepin Independent School District No. 11
