• <br />• <br />• <br />United Power Association <br />ELK RIVER, MINNESOTA 55330-0800 612-441-3121 <br />February 6, 1986 <br />Mr. Jack Ippel <br />Chairman <br />Ramsey Airport Commission <br />Ramsey, MN <br />RE: Usage of Gateway Industrial North <br />Dear Mr. Ippel, <br />As an owner and operator of a corporate aircraft, we <br />are interested in the further development and upgrade <br />of Gateway Industrial North Airport. <br />We have used Gateway since its inception. Our general <br />offices are in Elk River, with our aircraft based at <br />Anoka County -Blaine -Janes Field. We use this facility <br />several times per week, since our employees prefer driving <br />eight (8) miles to board our aircraft rather than the <br />30 miles to our own hangar facilities. <br />Within the past several years, we have seen this airport <br />facility change managers, maintenance of runway/taxiways <br />deteriorated from time to time, availability of fuel <br />sporadic, etc. Due to its proximity to our office, we <br />continued to use the facility with its inconveniences <br />and we will continue to use it as long as it remains <br />an airport. <br />United Power Association has had corporate aircraft for <br />21 years and will continue to operate some type of <br />aircraft, since we have power plants in North Dakota <br />and also have 3,000 miles of A.C./D.C. lines to patrol <br />each month. Our employees travel quite extensively to our <br />outlying locations, using the company aircraft. Having <br />Gateway Industrial North Airport within eight (8) miles of <br />our general office is a time saver for our employees and <br />is convenient for corporate, use. <br />We are personally interested in having this airport <br />upgraded to hard -surfaced runways, etc. A proposal has <br />been made to our management concerning upgrading our <br />
