March 23, 1987
Mayor Gary Reimann
City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Blvd.
Ramsey, MN 55303
Dear Mr. Mayor:
Rectiveo
MAR 2 3 1987
Aped ..
I am writing this letter to express my dissatisfaction with the city of
Ramsey's proposal for the possible development of the airport in Ramsey.
From talking to many residents it has become apparent that the majority
of these residents are opposed to this development. The following facts
support their beliefs:
#1) The purchase of the airport from its present owners will only bene-
fit these owners by relieving their tax burden and placing a future tax
burden on all Ramsey residents.
#2) Increasing the size of the airport will only increase traffic, noise
and the risk of possible accidents to both humans and facilities located
too close to the present airport.
#3) The development of the airport will not greatly affect the valua-
tion and development of industrial and commercial properties in the city
of Ramsey.
#4) The airport is not a necessity for the quality of life for the
residents of the city of Ramsey and surrounding communities.
#5) The present permission with permits that the landfill has for future
construction will allow the landfill to exceed height limitations and
cause a hazard to aircraft traffic.
In response to the above mentioned points here are some questions to
ponder:
I) If the taxes for the present owners are too great to handle, why
not do away with the present airport, re -zone the property for much
needed single family housing with possible sewer and water, and turn a
vacant unproductive site into a better tax base for all the residents.
II) The present housing both north and south is now a hazard plus the
super Bowl, Small World Daycare, Chip's Video and Pizza, Grace Commun-
ity Bible Church and Northern Oxygen Service all have more people on
site than what will be allowed if the development proceeds. Northern
Oxygen has other on site problems which should be considered. The
Super Bowl has night lighting which would not be condusive to a safe
RIDGE
CONSTRUCTION & REALTY, INC.
6740 HIGHWAY 10 NORTHWEST
ANOKA, MINNESOTA 55303
TELEPHONE: 427-1350
